Q&A

Q: What is the PPE output of Mogobe 20w Grow Light Bulb?
A: This fixture is drawing only 20W from the wall, offering a high efficacy of 3.13 μmol/J @ 110V AC measures on 12'' height and PPF 62.56 μmol/s. When you check the PPFD map, you'll see that in a 3X3ft grow tent, the centered PPFD reading is 348 from a height of 12 inches.

Q: What is the feature of Mogobe 20w Sunlike Spectrum Grow light bulb?
A: MB-20 consists of all colors of the light spectrum, which is 28 pcs of 3000k warm white, 10pcs of 5000k white, and 2 pcs of 660nm deep red. Warm light is ideal for flower production and cool light is perfect for leafy growth. With Mogobe Grow Bulb, you can grow any plant from seedlings to bloom. It's quite economical since it can provide a full-color spectrum required for every stage of growth with just one LED GROW BULB.

Q: What is the angle of the optical lens in MB-20?
A: With a 60° Angle Optical Lens, You can hang your 20W LED grow light higher and cover the plants fully & evenly. Without the lens, the LED diode emits the light at 120° angle, lots of them are wasted in the thin air.

Q: What Diodes does Mogobe use?
A: We use LEDESTAR diodes. Every unit of Led Grow Light will consist of 3000K warm white, 5000K white, 660nm deep red.

Q: How far should your grow lights be above your plants?
A: Take tomato as an example, we recommend hanging distance is 24’’ during the seedling stage, 18’’ during the vegetable stage, and 12’’ during the flowering stage. Make sure not to get the LED GROW LIGHT too close to the plants, or it will get sunburned.

Q: How often should I water the plants?
A: First of all, we have to identify if plants need watering. There are 2 ways that you can check. First, you can stick your finger into the soil to feel if it’s dry. And the other is to hold up the plant and feel its weight. If it’s light, it’s time to water.

Q: Does air circulation matter when you are growing plants?
A: Yes, It matters. It can control temperature and humidity, protect plants against diseases, such as mold, bud rot, and white powdery mildew, and strengthen stems by allowing them to bend and sway like in nature.

Q: What is the ideal humidity while growing plants?
A: Around 40-70% would be fine but the ideal humidity is 60%. It may cause powdery mildew if the humidity is too high.

Q: What is the ideal temperature while growing plants?
A: You have to focus on both top and root temperature which is 25-30℃ or 77-86℉. If you do not have an optimal root zone environment, you’re going to have yellow leaves, disordered leaves, and so on. To keep the temperature, you have to install exhaust fans to circulate air in the tend and use a thermometer to continuously measure the temperature.

Q: What is the best soil media and nutrients?
A: There are some media components on the market. But we recommend 50% peat 50% vermiculite if you grow a tomato. Nutrients in a vegetative stage are 20:10:20(N:P: K) and a flowering stage is 5:7:10(N:P: K).

Q: How many LED watts are required per square foot of growing space?
A: We recommend 32 watts to cover 1 sq ft for flowering and growing space for plants would be 4 sqft per plant.

Q: What is important for plant growth?
A: There are nine cardinal parameters for plant growth. They are light, temperature, wind, humidity, CO2, water, nutrients, oxygen, and root temperature. Obviously, Light is most important. It affects everything. So to optimize growth, we have to start by optimizing light. Or else, everything will be a waste if you ignore LIGHT.

Q: What are the effects of blue photons, green photons, red photons, and far-red photons?
A: Blue photons inhibit cell expansion which is terrific for stem elongation to keep plants shorter. Green photons facilitate human vision which is like fertilizer because we can see the plants and diagnose problems. Red photons are efficient photosynthesis. They are about 15% better than blue photons for photosynthesis. Far-red photons enhance cell expansion.

Q: What is DLI?
A: DLI, the daily light integral is an input parameter. The higher the DLI, the higher the yields.

Q: Does light leakage from the tent matter while growing the plant?
A: In fact, it is! But this mainly refers to the outside light leaking into the growing area of your plants. We don't want any light pollution at night. A little bit of light leaking in can cause plants not to flower at all or flower poorly. So this instrument is like a silent sentinel. Make sure the light is correct in the day and make sure it's off and dark at night.

Q: What is the optimum light intensity for plants?
A: Actually, the higher the best and there isn't a specific number of it. But it's not high economic efficiency if the number is more than 2000 ppfd. So the optimum light intensity is with the range of 1000-2000 ppfd.

Q: What lighting metrics you should be aware of when you choose a LED grow light?
A:
*PAR, Photosynthetically Active Radiation is a range of the light spectrum. Actually, PAR is not a measurement or metric but defines the range of light needed to support photosynthesis, which is 400nm(blue) to 700nm(red).
*PPF, Photosynthetic Photon Flux is a measure of the total number of photons that a light source emits each second. The unit used to express it is µmol/s. You can calculate it just using PPE times input power(Watt) then you can get PPF.
*PPE, Photosynthetic Photon Efficacy is the par photon output of a light source(µmol/s) divided by input power(Watt or j/s). The unit used to express it is µmol/j. Assuming you read from a PAR map, just plus all the readings on the map and then divide the number of the reading to get the average reading number. Then times how big your grow tent is (3X3 tent is 0.9*0.9=0.81). Then divided by wattage.
*PPFD, Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density is a measure of the number of par photons that actually fall on a given surface (the plant growing area) each second. The unit used to express PPFD is µmol/m2/s. Just remember: More PPFD, More Yield.

Q: What are the proper instruments to measure PAR, PPF, and PPFD?
A: Using a specialized instrument called PAR Light Meter or a properly calibrated spectrometer would be best. We recommend Apogee instruments quantum sensors to measure.

Q: Why do we need a LED Grow Light while growing?
A: Unless you have a greenhouse or locate in a tropical area, LED Grow Light is your best choice to provide a sunlike full spectrum for plants. As we all know, regular lights or light fixtures can not deliver a full-color spectrum that plants needed in a different stage of a growth cycle. Nothing is better compared to real sunlight, but believe it or not, LED Grow Light can trick the plants that they are getting real sunlight.

Q: Does this fit a standard bulb socket?
A: It is designed to fit a standard E26 socket for easy installation.
